working closely with designers and artists to create motion that enhances the overall gameplay

Job description
A 2D Animator is responsible for creating engaging and believable motion for characters, props, UI
elements, and effects in games or interactive media. They use timing, spacing, and movement
principles to make static artwork come alive. 2D Animators collaborate with game designers, artists,
and developers to ensure animations align with gameplay and visual style, while also meeting
technical constraints for performance.
Responsibilities:
- Creating high-quality 2D animations for characters, creatures, environments, UI elements,
and effects.
- Developing animation cycles (idle, walk, run, jump, attack, etc.) using sprites or
skeletal
rigs.
- Working with art and design teams to maintain a consistent animation style.
- Implementing animations into game engines such as Unity using Animator Controllers or
similar systems.
- Refining animation timing and weight to ensure smooth and impactful motion.
- Creating VFX-style animations like explosions, spell effects, or weather elements.
- Iterating animations based on team feedback and gameplay testing.
- Exporting and optimizing animations for different platforms and resolutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Animation, Fine Arts, Game Design, or a related field (preferred).
- Strong understanding of traditional animation principles (timing, squash & stretch,
anticipation, etc.).
- Proficiency in animation tools such as Spine, Adobe Animate, After Effects, or
Toon
Boom Harmony.
- Experience with frame-by-frame and/or skeletal animation techniques.
- Familiarity with implementing animations in game engines (Unity, Unreal, etc.).
- Ability to work in various styles—from cartoony to realistic.
